Title: Hi guys
Post by: Dazzat on September 26, 2012, 12:07:34 AM
Hi Dazzat here! (Darren)

I finally bought one of my favourite pinballs 4 months ago that I loved playing back in 92, it is my very first pinny Cue Ball Wizard.
I spent over 60 hours in restoring it to the way I want it after it had been restored buy the seller.. Some people have said that it is the best restore they have seen in a cue ball wizard in some time after I have finished it.... But they could be blowing my trumpet... !@)
My recent mod on it was the "WIZARD" & "DOUBLE" LED's from the old school red & green to white globe blue light LED and it came out really nice.
I suppose one day I will stop detailing it  &&
My next one will be Star Wars Trilogy that I have on order and will pick up in a month.

Glad to be here guys! After a bit of reading there is some nice tut's and interesting convo's

My cue ball wizard is in the shop atm so no photos yet on the detailing I have done, I was cleaning the loom wires in the back board and re cable tying, I am extremely careful with anything electrical having a background (You would think)
My 7 y.o son pulled me away for a minute and I came back and plugged one of my 5v cables for my auxillary? into the power supply A2 and vice versa.... Well bugger me after finishing my cable tying I was pretty proud of myself and switched it on........ Bang and boom with some smoke in back board.
Lots of chips burnt out and so forth, I was told lucky the fuses popped as well and nothing else is blown.
If I am correct it may be beaky (Andrew) receiving my boards to hopefully fix by mail via the pinball place, (Don't know if I can mention them???)
Fingers crossed it will be repairable due to my stupidity  &^&
Maybe he can chime in if it is him repairing... I was told they had to be sent to queensland so I'm just putting 2 & 2 together  %.%

Yes, sounds like Andy(Beaky) if u were dealing with a melb based pinball business. Quite a few pinball companies send their work to Andy.

Have a look at this thread below, it shows the quality of work done.

HOLY CRAP that is some fantastic work!!! $#$ Extremely happy that they are in Andy's hands

I'm kicking myself on doing what I did because I always tag cables but due to being interrupted the cables where so close together I crossed them from 5 to 12 **&
I currently do repairs for a forklift company fixing Curtis controllers, and anything electrical on forks, save the company 1000's dollars on replacement, hence a duty to be very careful due to any voltage variables 24, 48 & 240  :D

Oh well looking forward to andy's repair and seeing the final result

CPU now boots. I had to test CPU, Ram and PIAs so they are now socketed which will make any future repairs easier.
While i have the board i will replace the Button Battery with a Button Battery holder and new Battery.

Thankyou very much Andy for keeping me informed... Have I really done an expensive disaster on this? or has it been really easy fix so far?.

I'm just concerned I did  a lot of damage as it has really upset me on what I did
