Awesome. One day I might have the skill and knowledge to build and use a test bench.

Well done mate ! It took me YEARS to track down a Bally Set, and I use it often. I still need the Lamp Driver test fixture  @@^

Pardon my ignorance, but was a Test Bench, such as the WPC one, something that was able to be constructed using spare boards etc., or were they a specific piece of hardware?

I have a few spare boards, and would be interested to building one if that was at all possible.

Mine I've built using just standard wpc boards and wiring them up to work on the bench.  You basically need a while pinball machine and cut out the in needed bits ;)

I almost have enough boards to build a data east test bench aswell

Hmmm, that sounds promising.

I'd be interested to get some pointers off you on how you built your WPC bench. I can feel another project coming on #@#

I'm still yet to set it up but have a PC thanks to freiherr. Have the test unit a massive box of cables for each board type and the original Manual.    I have the original PC at the moment I'm hoping I can clone the hard drive and get the new PC to boot with all the needed files.

Hehe.
I can't help but think that there's probably a smart phone "Pinball Tricorder" app coming someday where you just wave the little thing around the machine and it troubleshoots the game, prints instructions and orders the parts for you.
Maybe CFH will write it - and eventually tear it down?

But those fixtures of yours are very cool nonetheless.

I built mine so it can test both wpc soundboards.
I have also made some adapter cables so i can test wpc-95 cpu , AV and power driver boards.
so if you need any advice feel free to ask

I then have another bench with a whole heap of adapters so i can do WMS sys 3 to 7, 11, data east and sega.
and early bally and gtb are done on another bench.
I am strapped for room also so a bench for each just aint going to happen

I just bought a WPC-89 test rig. Been looking for one for nearly 10 years and lucked into one.

How do you test both DCS and WPC-89 sound?

Do you have both xformers installed inside the rig, or are you just using the DCS one and underdriving the 18 volts on the WPC-89 sound board?

Awesome setup Daniel.. i'm slightly jealous of that lot  #.#  :lol

As you know i have built my own test rig that does several of the early SS boardsets,
Gtb sys 1 driver board
Sys 1 displays
Stern/Bally lamp driver
Stern/Bally 6 digit displays (plans have been made to modify to do 7 digit displays as well).

I like the WPC test rig you built  ^^^ ^^^ i might look into doing something like that one day  *%* *%*

It was your home made test bench that started me collecting boards to build my own.   Wasnt that difficult to build but wouldn't have been as easy without all the help I got from skybeax
