Title: Ribbon cables Tip
Post by: PinPal on March 28, 2014, 03:54:17 PM
I had an issue with the sound on my Williams Getaway today, I had lost most of the sounds while playing a game.
Re booted Getaway and still no sound, but it would make the occasional noise.
I unplugged the ribbon cables and put them back.
Switched the machine on then it would crash then reboot  !@# !@#
After checking everything I found that when I unplugged the ribbon cable to the dot matrix display I had put it back wrong way around causing the game to crash after rebooting.
I checked my Party Zone display cable to see the way it was connected ,, Its good to have another game that runs on the same system.
Ribbon cables connectors don't have keys.
In short its not crashing, sound is working as normal and the Dot matrix display is fine.   #*#

Just to add to the tip. Ribbon cables don't have keys but the key is the red line/strip which indicates pin 1 location
