Title: 35mm Slide to digital conversion - Some Advice please !
Post by: Strangeways on March 25, 2015, 11:15:45 PM
I've found hundreds of slides that date back to the old days - family pictures and hopefully some pinball related slides from the old days. I was hoping someone on the forum knows of a digital converter (hardware based) that works well in converting the slides to digital format.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, and any pinball / arcade photos will be posted here.

I used an old HP scanner many years ago which had an adaptor in the lid where you could pop in 2 slides and scan to digital format.

I have the HP4670 with the TMA adaptor - but it is not supported by Windows 7. I'm looking at a hardware option to use for photos and standard negatives. I am looking at options, and there's a lot to consider.

I just took all our old negatives and slides to a kodak shop. To be honest, I didn't want to spend the time doing it myself. Just my two cents.

Officeworks have a number of different scanner options.
I have not tried any of these but maybe a search of reviews on the web may be helpful in finding out if they are any good.

Anything more than a couple hundred photos and I would take them to a shop instead and have them done in bulk.

Trust me S, from personal experience you will tire very quickly of loading and unloading 4-6 slides at a time in those plastic trays. Particularly if you buy a scanner that only comes with one 35mm slide tray.  *%*

This Photo Scanner looks very good for the price ;

Does not appear in the list of Photo Scanners, but it looks like it is highly recommended. I guess it will be a tedious process to scan all the slides, but that will be half the fun. Just holding some of them up to the light reveals images of the original pinball storage building during construction. There's lots of family photos.

I just finished converting all my old slides . I have a Epson V600 ,which wasn't cheap  but works fantastically.It scans Slides , Pictures and negatives and converts to a high resolution digital format. i used to have a scanner ,which i picked up from Harvey Norman....it was crap!

Yes, I am thinking that the Epson V600 is the go.
Best price I found online was $410 at the Printer Supermarket.

The other alternative for an older scanner might be running under VMWare (with XP) or equivalent?

Looks like the V600 is the way to go.

I gave ALL my old stuff from Mum and Dad and gave them to Channel 9, they did a very professional package and quite cheap to, how much you got?
