Hi to all.
Finally took the plunge and bought one of these of eBay, after looking for quite a while.
Have to say I'm very impressed so far, after having done about 7 cuts with the machine.
Thinking of applications such as insert surround masks, and fine lettering masks.
Anyone have or used a Silluoette?

Here's some pics of some cuts in adhesive vinyl.
I'm stunned at the fine detail, which was cut when my daughter selected a font with internal lines.
Though very tricky to remove vinyl at such fine scale - poor y's tail got a bit bent!
Last pic shows some more fine detail on a different font.

i use a basic cicle cutting tool,fully adjustable,no computers try scrapbook supplies

Very easy. No CAD involved!
Just uses fonts already installed on your computer or images you download.
I reckon even you could do it Dan. %$%

Can you briefly explain about the red eye capability?

Normally on a plotter you cant cut " pictures" because they are seen as a flattened image ( jpeg, Bitmap etc) and the machine cannot recognise the lines. 99% of plotters require vector files. The fonts on your computer are vectors and their outlines are seen by the comp as a mathematical composition. Often when you send a file to another person with a cutter and they don't have the font, they cant cut it - you have to convert to curves which gives a mathematical outline to the lettering ( or they install the font as TFF).
Red Eye works in a way that a print ( normally with registration marks) can be cut to nominated lines on it so long as they are clear and precise... it reads the line in other words. It how we can produce a digital print and then cut it on the plotter once ink has cured and the print is fed back through... you nominate the line to cut to and the comp cuts out precicely

Haven't tried it yet though.

If you're referring to the actual vinyl, it's just adhesive vinyl.
The cutter itself will cut several different types of material though.

How did you do the homepin logo with regards to the two colours? That's where I'm a little confused. Is it cutting the designs or printing or both?

The machine only cuts out the designs.
I simply used two different colour vinyls and two sperate cuts. Then lined up the two decals.

thanks mate I thought as much but best to ask. Sometimes what I think is totally wrong so sorry for maybe asking the obvious

I probably confused things with the "print and cut" comment.
This feature allows you to print any image on your regular printer. When it prints, it adds several alignment marks around the border.
Then when you load this image into the cutter, it senses the alignment marks and cuts out the image.
You use normal printer paper type products rather than vinyl.
I think this would be good for things like stickers and decals.
