Title: Homepin Lowboys available at APR - Late Sep / Early Oct
Post by: Strangeways on August 28, 2015, 11:38:08 AM
APR has purchased a container of the Homepin Lowboys. We anticipate they will be available in late September / early October. They are available in two colors - Red and Blue.

The cost for one of these is $1300.

Pre Orders are welcome.

There's a thread with all the details here ;

Are they a cabinet ready to add a JAMMA board or do they have a selection of systems included?

They have the standard 60 in 1 board. I'm not sure if that's the answer you are looking for, but Mike answer's the "tech" questions here ;

Yep that was the question I was asking.

I don't think it was mentioned in the other thread what system (if any) was going to be fitted.
The 60in1 is a good start, being JAMMA the 60in1 could be removed and any other board fitted by the buyer.
I think he mentioned about the monitor being able to be rotated for horizontal games.

There is another board mike was talking to me about, but it would be offered later - once the testing and suitabilty were determined. In theory, this is a jamma cabinet. Just about all boards would work.

Certainly, if anyone wants to test a board etc - I would make a cabinet available for that purpose.
Yep that was the question I was asking.

Container day was a little bit different this time around - it was the Homepin Lowboy shipment. The reasons I wanted to do this is because pinball collectors often want a cocktail table, classic upright or fighting style cabinet.

Container arrives - always the same feeling as Christmas Day for a 10 year old !

We have had some feedback that the 60 in 1 is a bit old hat and there are better boards with more games on them.

After a few discussions, we are going to try these two alternatives ;

A Horizontal 139 in 1
A Vertical 412 in 1

Won't be a huge price difference, but we are thinking of making the cabinet more interesting with more games available. Would be interested to hear some feedback  ^^^

Just our two cents but we swapped out the 60in1 from Mike's cocktail for the 412in1 and the kids love it :)

Yup - that's consistent with what I was thinking.

The Lowboy can accommodate Horizontal games by refitting the screen. Five minute job !

Ordered some of these boards ;

Horizontal 139 in 1
Vertical 412 in 1

Will be selling some of these with either board. We need to test them fully, but it appears both boards are reliable.

Both will plug straight in and work.

Be aware that, for the horizontal board, you will need to "remask" the glass and turn the monitor sideways.

Simple job to move the monitor as the pilot holes are already CNC'd into the mounting panel but the glass masking will require masking tape and a can of spray paint.

The bezel and its frame will be easy to swap to horizontal.

Usually, with horizontal boards, the monitor input plugs (signal and power) face towards the front of the machine, or down. Might help when you are relocating it.

Mike are you okay with horizontal modifications done within the warranty period? Would you consider factory supplying one of these more elaborate game boards in the future? Seems like a portion of the market are tuned into the fact the 60-1 does not hit the mark - or is the intended market still fine with a 60-1?

The machine is factory made for vertical or horizontal installations. There is no warranty issue at all if swapped.

The other game boards are simply not available within China or I would certainly offer them.

We decided to investigate this after speaking with Homepin. We know it will work, and it won't affect warranty. The boards themselves are relatively cheap, and unrepairable. So if they fair - we replace them.

Feedback has indicated people want more options than the 60 in 1. I love the 60 in 1, but I also like games like "Tapper", "Moon Patrol" and other games I used to play when I was young.
