Title: CPR new preorder list up

For those interested, there is a heap of new playfields up on the CPR preorder list.

cheers for the heads up, jumped on the list for a skateball

how does it work for playfields to come via Nino, do we email register with CPR and then notify them or Nino?

CPR will continue the current pre order process - you register your interest on the playfields and they collate the requests and work out the schedule. You pay CPR when ready.

We have flagged the idea of APR selling playfields for all titles in the future. The recent releases and possible releases may be an opportunity for this to happen, but not at this stage.

What customers can do - is have the playfields sent to me. This has worked for pinheads who can't be home for delivery, or to save $ on shipping.

Hopefully Old Chicago makes the pre order list - that's the barrow I've been pushing for 2 years !

I just registered on their Whirlwind list then.  Given I'm in Perth would any shipping costs saved by having it shipped to you Nino then be eaten up by the shipping to WA?

Just wondering as I don't know how much cheaper you can get shipping compared to straight delivery from CPR to me?

No financial advantage to send to me directly. You could pair up with another collector and save a lot on postage.

Sending to me is good for local pickup, or if I'm restoring that title for a customer.

I am surprised that they have listed so many new titles
still a few there that were announced 18 moths ago

TAF hits the inevitable production delay due to a shortage of inserts.  #@#

TOTAN I recall was 5 years from original announcement to release last year due to not having a blue lightning insert piece.

With Skateball being there, surely a RADICAL would be um RADICAL! I would be all over that in a heart beat. My play field rests are far from perfect  &&

When batches of playfields are shipped from CPR to APR, what's a rough average of shipping cost per playfield?
I'm thinking of signing up on a preorder for a playfield and am just wondering what the total ball park landed cost might be.
Thanks.

Playfields are not part of our Distributorship (yet). We won't be distributing the playfields on the pre order list. You need to deal with CPR direct for playfields. If members were to organize a group buy and have them sent (2 in each box), then you will save some $ on shipping. If a customer has a game in the resto queue, then the playfield can be sent to us. If you want playfields sent to us as there's no one home during the day to accept the playfields - send them here and pick them up on Saturdays.

Presumably there would be GST implications with this method? Two in a box would definitely push it well over the $1000 GST low value threshold.

Ah ok, thanks. Silly me only looked at CPRs pre-order page yesterday without seeing they had shipping prices listed on their store page.

Yeah, good point. Although two people that have paid separately for their playfields might not get hit if they've shipped together?? Not sure..

Any GST is calculated when arrives here so the box total plus shipping, won't matter who paid. Getting hard to do these under $1k even for one with shipping now. That said, they are not always picked up. My last one was just over $1k with shipping but got through without a GST bill.

This has been my experience also. Some get through, some don't.

Correct. A clear demonstration of sagacity would be to ensure the encumbrance would be less than AUS$1000 (including lading). This modus operandi ensures it does not inveigle the assiduity of the relevant authorities.

APR has adhered to all importation criterion including GST.

Eight Ball Deluxe and Skateball filled fast! To slow if you wanted an EBD and Skateball only has the standby list still open. Skateball's moved into production with CNC cutting commencing too.

I know what you mean. I keep looking at those Voltan playfields. I'll probably never get the game to even put it in but it doesn't stop me wanting one. At the moment though I've resisted jumping on the list.

update on pinside 10 days ago on the Skateball thread

Test cutting was completed this afternoon and after three sets of eyes confirmed every hole, dimple, drill etc on the front of the PF is correct its been released to CNC cutting. It will take approx 3-4 weeks to cut and glue the PFs before they head over for prep and screening. Once ready and printed they are off to clear and you guys will see some NICE new Skateball Pfs. Small run of Centaur and another small run of Fathoms and then Skateball. The Centaur and Fathom are all cut and glued and are just going through final inspection before off to screening.

A bunch more playfields up on the pre order. Mainly Data East but also Stern Meteor. No DE SW playfields at this time but hopefully it will come. If plastics are just around the corner then they must have sorted the licensing.

Hello All,

Last month we launched the revamped 2016 CPR Preorder Page at the web site, which in turn launched all the ready-go playfield candidates for the next few years so they could begin the interest collecting & preorder process.

Today we finish that revamp, with the final 6 additions posted to the CPR Preorder Page today... our remaining candidates in the DataEast and Classic Stern realm! These are art packages now in our finished archives, complete silkscreen master separations, masterfully reproduced by Stuart Wright, who has been working on these for over a year. So now they are all in CPR's sights, and they go up for market consideration with all the other candidates:

DataEast GnR
DataEast Star Trek
DataEast Rocky & Bullwinkle
DataEast LW3
DataEast Tommy
Stern Electronics Meteor

They can be found in the Standard Preorder and Boutique Zone sections, and are awaiting your order/vote.

http://www.classicplayfields.com/order.html

This will be it for now, as there is plenty there to keep us busy for the next 2-3 years. We now hunker down and continue production, with the ongoing effort to complete 8-10 runs a year to methodically complete these one at a time, and shrink the list over time. Yes, it will take patience for some of the lesser desired titles to come along - but that is where you guys influence the sequence, by means of response.

Have at it ! Thx.

From the email, it seems these will not go up for general sale
Does any one (prefer Victoria) want mine before I forfeit my spot?

Cheers for posting that.  I thought I had missed them when I never responded to the original list before it closed.

Given this is a long time wanted pin for me, figured it wouldn't hurt to grab one and store it for a rainy day.  Hopefully I will eventually pick up a trashed game one day to put it in, although the prices this game seems to fetch these days  ^&^

Im looking forward to them finishing those Whirlwinds playfields too!!

Not intending to offend anyone, but why do people stock up on playfields like water after an apocalypse?

If your playfield is in good condition you can protect it forever with Mylar, playfield protectors, new clearcoats, or any number of other methods.

If it is in poor shape, why not just get it restored and do the above to protect it, or just install the new one and stop using the damaged one?

Not complaining as it is good business for CPR and the hobby as a whole. Just curious.

These r the first playfields I have ever bought.

I am buying a whirlwind for a resto I am currently undertaking. I'm buying a TAF as this is a grail game for me so when I eventually buy one I will want it looking as good as possible. It may be 2-5 years before I buy one. By then I am sure I won't be able to get a new playfield  then, other than paying way over the odds if one does come up for sale. I was also under the impression it would be difficult to ever do any other run of these due to licensing issues with Raul Julia's estate.

But I hear wat u r saying, it seems some people buy them just to sit on for years with no real intention of ever using it.

Some are beyond repair or would cost more than they are worth to repair/restore. It's also a lot easier when swapping playfields is you have a replacement sitting there ready to go.
Either way it's nice to have options.

I buy playfield for games I have in my collection, and games I want in my collection. I also buy them for future projects for customers.

Collectors buy them for games they are chasing. This is good for the rest of us as CPR need to have a certain number of interested buyers before producing the playfields. I don't think people buy them to hang on a wall. I know some dealers buy them, store them for 2-3 years, then sell them at inflated prices.
