Post by: GAP on June 15, 2016, 07:19:08 PM
A guy at work gave me these coasters that his 80 year old father had. Anybody remember them ? (I don't).

There used to be an Operator called "Golden West" as opposed to "Golden Wests". Not sure if the typo was a mistake on the coasters. They were around in the 80's. My Father sold machines to them in the early days. For some reason, games were returned with "Golden West" stickers on them. My Father used to call them "Golden PESTS".

I think the apostrophe in front of the "s" is to create the sentence on the coaster -  "Golden West's Pinball".

There has always been conjecture on how many games Golden West had on location. I seem to recall they were expanding Australia wide at one stage - they were massive. 32,000 games sounds like a lot of machines. I don't think they were as big as LAI - they were the biggest operator that I can remember.

If you google Golden West amusements there is a number of job advertisements in old news paper for pinball techs and cleaners etc

There are three phone numbers on the coasters - Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.

I remember as a kid in the late 70's walking through all the EM's in the showroom-dad bought my first game from them "Playball" the sign like your coaster is still on the side of the building :)

@GAP if you want to sell 1 or 2 coasters I'd be interested :)

Peter.
