TWO X LCDs ?

They have not even released a game with ONE LCD and they are planning on having TWO ?

So really, it is a Batman VE with price increase "Super LE's". Code should be finished around the same time the next JJP.  ^&^

I think Stern should be attending to the numerous issues with previous games instead of releasing new titles with anticipated existing issues. Only hurts sales, not promote it.

"All new game design, retaining the popular crane toy from 2008 Gomes and Sheats’ Batman the Dark Knight”

“New Interactive Toys"

Is that saying this is a re-theme of the 2008 Batman?  Same playfield table, different playfield mechanisms.  Ie Drop targets in place of standup targets...  Is the second playfield LCD a replacement of the rotating cylinder on the top centre/left of the playfield?

Same bat time, same bat channel, same bat playfield?

copied from else where, a summary of the C2C interview with Gomez

New Batman '66 info from Gomez himself via C2C podcast:
CRANE TOY
- The Penguin will be driving it & wreaking havoc on Gotham
- Mildly modified but roughly in the same place on the playfield
- Will have recognizable behavior
- Its corresponding inserts will be in the same place as BDK
PLAYFIELD LAYOUT
- Left ramp & right ramp that cross
- Lots of the same elements on right-hand side as BDK
- Left-hand side has been redesigned
- Completely new feature on left side of game that provides 3 distinct interactive modes for the player & also acts as an additional ball lock.
- Way more shots than BDK (less "stop & go")
- Shots have a combo system now
LCD SCREEN
- Approximately the size of a medium laptop (15.6" diagonal screen) on a hinge speaker display panel
- Will play clips from the old show
ARTWORK
- Will be a combination of TV & comic art with live-action imagery
- Will be more sophisticated than what was shown on the flier
- Multiple artists working on it so you'll see some variation in illustration styles
Stern is planning to have the game playable at Expo.

went to Toy R Us the other with my son and saw the car boat and helicopter as $10 Hotwheels releases so in the end nothing special there.

also the application for buying a Batman Super LE has been shared and bit of a joke with wanting people to supply a video along with a buy back clause - Stern are really doing more and more strange things.

Stern Pinball in Collaboration with Ka-Pow Pinball Celebrates 30 Years in Business with Release of Batman ‘66 Pinball Game!
Holy Golden Anniversary, Iconic Batman TV Show Turns 50!
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL – September 15, 2016 – Stern Pinball, Inc., the world's oldest and largest producer of arcade-quality pinball machines, proudly announced today the availability of its highly anticipated Batman ‘66 Anniversary Edition pinball machine.
Stern Pinball is celebrating its 30th year in business and the 50th anniversary of the iconic American TV series with an Anniversary Edition pinball machine featuring the world famous “Dynamic Duo” of Batman and Robin. The game will immerse players in campy fun and heart-pounding action as the crime fighting Dynamic Duo comes to the aid of the Gotham City Police. Throughout the game, Batman and Robin work to deduce clues and discover super villain plots in an effort to thwart evil plans and capture bad guys. Players are guided through the game by the voices of none other than the original Batman and Robin, Adam West and Burt Ward.
A Hall of Fame pinball development team created the all new Anniversary Edition machine. The project was inspired by Joe Kaminkow of Ka-Pow Pinball and spearheaded by Stern Pinball product development chief, George Gomez, who, along with renowned programmer, Lyman Sheats, brought the game to life.
In addition to the fun title and game experience, the machine features a full color high definition display replacing the dot matrix display. In conjunction with Stern’s new SPIKE-2 electronic pinball platform, the display enables high definition graphics and innovative animations. This enables the game to feature actual TV footage from the iconic series. The game includes a second high definition display on the playfield as part of an interactive game feature.
"We are very proud to celebrate our 30th year in business by making a 50th anniversary Batman ‘66 game in collaboration with our good friend, Joe Kaminkow. Joe, who was instrumental in starting Stern Pinball 30 years ago and served as our company’s very first game designer, is now one of the gaming industry’s leaders,” said Gary Stern, Chairman and CEO of Stern Pinball, Inc.
Pricing and Availability:
The Batman ‘66 Anniversary Edition pinball machine will be available in Premium, Limited Edition, and Super Limited Edition models. The company has no current plans to produce a Pro model.
In celebration of Stern Pinball’s 30th anniversary and Batman’s 50th anniversary, Stern Pinball will build a Super Limited Edition model. The Super Limited Edition model also includes a one-of-kind art package plus multiple translites, a unique included topper and accessories package, and a high-fidelity 3-channel audio system that is three times more powerful than audio systems of previous generations. The Super Limited Edition model will be allocated by invitation and through an application process open to pinball collectors. Collectors can apply for a Super Limited Edition model by completing and submitting an application located at http://www.Batman66Application.com. Applications are due by 11:59 pm CST on September 30, 2016.
The Limited Edition model will be offered in two series of 120 games each. Each game in the first series will be named for one of the 120 episodes of the television show. Each game in the second series will be named for one of the iconic “bat gadgets” used in the series. In total, only 240 Limited Edition machines will be produced.
All purchasers who make a deposit on their game will also receive a VIP invitation to an exclusive “meet and greet” with Batman (Adam West) at the Westin Chicago North Shore Hotel in Wheeling, Illinois during the weekend of Chicago’s Pinball Expo.
Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price:
Premium Model: $US 8,599
Limited Edition Model: $US 9,999
Super Limited Edition Model: $US 14,999

a very small leak - crap really

It really is a bit much. Stern try and differentiate themselves from the other companies by releasing games consistently and avoiding the pre-order model, but now they're going down the same path.....and not even giving customers pictures to go by. I really hope they deliver, but the cynic in me says that this is going to be a tweaked Batman the Dark Knight as opposed to the original game that it is being marketed as.

Surely that's an old photo with the game being revealed mid-October? They should have a fully populated prototype at this stage?

overall looks good and like the rotating feature in the back to mix up game play but the layout is not terrible different and still a spelling mistake lol

noticed the super le gets some hotwheels models and a $5 search light... lol

wouldn't say the super le is worth $20k Aus, and you would think the SLE would have a different finished off clean apron for that money

I think the artwork is cool, but the SLE has standard trim, I would have thought for $20K you would at least get a decent trim package. Stern FB mention the playfield is different from DK, but apart from the art, it looks the same to me ?

Title: Re: Next STERN Pinball - BATMAN 66
Post by: swinks on October 16, 2016, 07:25:45 AM
I have heard a few things from some pin mates that went to the Chicago Expo & Stern Party show and linked to people in the know.

- games are expected to go up about $200-$250 on each model for the lcd upgrades
- at Gary's speech - Gary talked a lot about this game at his speech. Gary hired a new guy, and he used to work for topps sports cards. They are using some things from the topps guy who also had some kind of back ground in slot machines. When he was selling slot machines, he showed how they released a batman slot machine, had Adam West signature session. From his talk, his whole thing was based off of the topps guy selling collectables.
- Gary also talked about having 3 cornerstone games a year, their main games. Then have some specialty or limited games, one of those every year or 2. This is one of those limited games.
- Gary said they will announce their next cornerstone game in January or February 2017 - probably Aerosmith .......
- but you cannot play Batman.

Colleague of mine called me the other day and asked me where I bought my Stern KISS LE and asked about my buying experience. He was DESPERATE for a Batman 66 LE. So I gave him Joe's number at KJWHF, and stressed he needed to call IMMEDIATELY. As soon as he put down the phone from me, he called Joe. He ordered the LAST Batman LE 66 then and there. If he waited, literally, another 5 minutes, it was GONE. In fact, Joe told me he was receiving calls while on the phone to my colleague regarding that last LE.

Like a kid in a candy store..  :D

Funny thing is, a customer of mine walked in 2 days later and wanted a Batman 66 LE, but he is a Star Wars NUT and wants a Star Wars..

Stern simply almost always hit the nail on the head with licences.

Thanks Peter for the links. I'm not a batman fan so the music drove me crazy, but maybe if playing it might be good?? My gb music seems more pleasant to listen to.

The lcd I'm still not a fan. JJP seems to have it more down pat and informative for the player. I think stern has a ways to go in putting their stamp on lcd's in pinball.

Gameplay I didn't like, seemed a bit disjointed, but hey, early days code wise, and the guy playing probably had no idea in what to do. But it just didn't sit right with me at the moment.

why is this happening. Gb code was there, GOT got a lot of code loving, kiss ziltch, batman in the zero point somethings. I am guessing sales data would reflect the better the initial code release and frequency of updates the better the sales results.

It would appear that Stern's focus is on releasing X number of new titles a year be they finished or not. How raw the code is doesn't become evident until the games are in buyers hands but that's OK as updates are soon to follow. Doesn't always transpire though does it?
After a while, the backlog becomes so large that certain games will be written off code wise.. the updates will never come and the game play will never be complete.
My guess is that Stern are already at this saturation point

But the game from all reports is still lacking decent code. Admittedly, I only know one buyer of this game, and the machine is plagued with issues. Code be the least of the problems.

It is clear Stern don't care about the home market. Past games like Metallica took over a year to have the game 100% coded. So the home market need to take the gamble of outlaying big money for a game that "hopefully" and "one day", Stern will finish. I really feel for the distributors, having to deal with the constant issues of selling Stern pinball machines.

Although I'm toying with the idea of moving on my KISS LE, I was considering a Tron to replace it, but the way Stern treats the public in the digital media, I'm done.

The last six months has seen a surge of restoration requests on machines produced decades ago. Home collector's money that would ordinarily go to games that SHOULD have continued the standard like Spiderman etc etc.

Not sure why anyone is surprised by Steen's tardynes regarding code
My first NIB (batman TDK) took 3 years for them to finish the code. That was eight years ago

Yet people think it won't happen to their game and thus reward stern with presales
