Title: Stern - Aerosmith - Dirty Donny Art
Post by: swinks on October 15, 2016, 02:03:21 PM
taken from Pinball Supernova:

https://pinballsupernova.wordpress.com/2016/10/15/pinball-rumors-is-aerosmith-the-next-stern-pinball-themed-title/

"Dirty Donny has just released a book showing pictures of an Aerosmith themed pinball machine.  Stern has not announced the title as of yet, so is this the next Stern title or is it a red herring?  Stay tuned.

Dirty Donny has also done artwork for two other Stern titles.  The two titles are Metallica and also Pabst Blue Ribbon Can Crusher."

It appears to have the same lcd design screen as the just released Batman 66 but just no official release from Stern so could be a Pabst type sold machine ????.

Either Aerosmith or Iron Maiden. Would pass on Aerosmith, but consider Iron Maiden.

Maiden would be a better option but it's still not enough in the band theme dept to pry cash from me.

Interesting game though

Aerosmith were a "heavier sounding" Rolling Stones band. Had some very good Hard Rock albums in the 70's, but will be remembered for their soppy MTV ballards and their two mega hits "Love in an Elevator" and "Janie's got a gun".

Favorite album is "Permanent Vacation" and song "Dude Looks like a lady"

I think the art package is good, but a little to "busy". Metallica Donnie Art was exceptional. It will be interesting to see if it suffers similar playfield insert issues, or has playable code released within 12 months. I would consider this title if Stern finished code on time.

Given Aerosmith were not popular here in Australia (with the exception of MTV hits and ballards), I can't see many sold here. But it might do well in the USA.

AMD pricing.

Pro-$8350
Prem-$10650
LE-$12350

This game doesn't interest me, I hope Stern do Hendrix, Jaws or a new Star Wars pin then I will get interested.

The same issue of playfield dimples from the ARK multiball will be revisited in the Aerosmith ToyBox

Looks to me like a very similar layout to KISS, but with a tiny, useless mini playfield. The artwork is excellent, but I keep seeing the KISS layout. Color Display is awesome.

Screen still doesn't do it for me ala stern. Jjp maybe but stern no. Main toy, looks a bit like sparky, sounds a bit like sparky, but ain't no sparky to me. Just can't beat his presents in a game. But will wait for more updates to make a final decision. Agree the upper playfield is as good as a waste of time. Pro winning in the value for money race for this title

In my opinion metallica models are line ball, ghostbusters premium a true winner and pro for aerosmith

Yeah im gonna have a bash on the pro and le if i can to see which one to get if any. The artwork is beautiful and rock pins always have their own unique feel about them regardless of the band.

I'm at city heroes busting a sweat playing Aerosmith for the first time. The toy box design is floored. Sometimes the ball goes in. Other times it bounce over or out. I also found for no reason the flippers would stop as if I tilted it for no reason. A few times I even had 3 balls cued up in the ball launch shoot and had to manually launch all 3 balls up at once.
In saying all that. I like the game. But I'm now convinced not to buy a Aerosmith. The machine is easy to pop at just 39 million. Think I cracked 5 times. Highest score I got was 122 million.

Correct, the way it is designed with the lock set up. Me thinks you need to play it more. Great game

Well that explains a lot.  @.@ I put $5 in it for 3 games and popped it 4 or 5 times. It was entertaining and good value.

Aerosmith is at Timezone Surfers Paradise for anyone that is interested.

Only played 2 games but was a fun game for me. I like the toy box. 5 out of six balls went in  there. Keeps a bit of randomness in the game. The game most likely needs to be setup perfectly for it to work well. I like the screen as well. Looks like a high definition picture? Very crisp either way.

No clue about the mode rules though!  *.*

yeah agree, we go for a lcd to explain the rules and aid in playing the games, yet the games are getting more complex and more confusing how to play

what I find interesting and maybe a bit disappointing with LCD stern display is the diagnostics display that I have seen on the internet. Looks like stern have just moved their dmd screens to the lcd. Why not do more a pin2000 setup with graphics of device locations being tested etc etc. Diagnostics with such a screen would have to be made easier don't you think

I was in Timezone at surfers last weekend. No Aerosmith. They had Wrestling, Kiss & Walking Dead.

Hmmm....

Defiantly was there. They had Americas Most haunted, Ghost Busters, Aerosmith, Mustang, Game of Thrones and maybe Iron Man or Spiderman from memory. Did ya check the hole place as sometimes they spread a few about the place but have a corner dedicated to them. North east corner.

Weird. The place is huge and noisy. Must admit I drank 6 pints at Kitty O Sheas before entering Timezone. Yup I was Blind. @.@
