Title: Gottieb Totem project
Post by: ScottoKong on May 28, 2017, 06:44:34 PM
Hi All

Im bring this old girl back to life.  Planning to drop a Pascal 4 in 1 into it like I did with my Genie.

Im about ready to fire it up for the first time.
I've just noticed that the previous owner has cut A6J4-1 at the connector under the playfield.  Im struggling to make sense of the schematics... it's linked to A3J5-17??? What does it drive???

Any thoughts why the operator would cut this?

Looks like it controls the "High game to date" lamp in the backbox.

I can only assume that it was possibly stuck on(maybe by a shorted driver transistor) and the wires may have been cut to extinguish the lamp. !@#

Got the old girl up and running with only a couple of issues.
Some repinning and a couple of new diodes will hopefully sort my Vari-target issues.

My biggest issue is the drop tqrgets not resetting.
Thinking the issue is mechanical.
In test mode with the playfield up everything fires and will consistently reset properly when 5 of the 6 targets are down.  All six wont get there.... with 6 down none manage to reset.
Playfield down I can only get it to reset 3 targets.

Got New coils each around 23v.

Had it apart. Cleaned. Everything moves freely.
Longer springs on the targets.... shorter ones to the frame.

Just seems like there is too much friction with the targets.
Ive played with the coil depth without any noticable change.

There is some play in the links to the plungers. Cant find them in Oz... part A-262 from memory.
What am I missing? Its driving me nuts!!!!

maybe repin connector, might not be making good contact thus not getting good current.

Thanks for the replies.  Got it sorted finally.  Pruely mechanical issues. Adjusted coil position and moved mechanism slightly over as targets were rubbing playfield slightly
