Title: Taking a P2000 headbox off
Post by: pinball god on July 15, 2009, 09:40:19 PM
Now I've never taken a standard head off but can imagine it won't be as easy as this.

Taking a P2000 headbox off is as simple as undoing a few plugs and 6 bolts. Advise getting help to actually lift it off though as it does contain a monitor, pc and speakers etc etc

Pic 1 shows the serial cable near the coin door that needs to be undone
Pic 2 is the parallel cable plugged into the driver PCB that is undone
Pic 3 shows the two plugs for 2 pin speaker and 3 pin power.
pic 4 shows the wing nut you unscrew for the ground strap

Undo and pull through the back of the box all the cables not including the ground strap and tie them to the box (via monitor bracket or something)

Then remove 6 hex bolts (3 per side) like shown in pic 5
Lift the head and remove.

I swear if you can't do this slowly and carefully in 10 minutes there is something wrong. Removing the playfield is even faster and simplier. Removing flipper button assemblies simple. PC unit too easy. Everything I have attempted to remove is easy except for say the monitor itself. That takes a little bit of maneouvering and care.

Yes Pin 2000 are a lot simpler than a standard pinball, Its just the lifting off that's a killer. It has to be a two man job very heavy and a bugger to hold on your own.

good job

yes  big difference

will be better than what some do and just stick them over top ,
wiped over with nifti and then put new ones on ,   much better to do it properly like what you are doing and will look a million times better too

Looks like a reply to a different thread, methinks. Maybe the one about the headbox decals...
