Title: Sys 11 display question
Post by: 48 on May 17, 2011, 06:22:52 PM
Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction with this one.
Attached is a pic of the player 4 display it appears "dotty" for want of a better word.
What do you think? Is it a component or would it be that the display itself is about to die?
At one stage it did not work at all, now it has gone to this bright in sections look.
Another time one digit was missing on the 2 and 4 player display but now this has rectified itself.
Hopefully the picture comes out OK, had trouble capturing it.

Looks like an over voltage issue to me... burn out looks very similar but i wouldnt expect to see it as uniform as this... normally one or two segments will burn bright then die.. not all burn bright as you have.

Check inputs for possible shorts, burn out resistor etc

Thanks for that Retropin, will check it tomorrow arvo.
Maybe the pic isn't real good, the brightest bits are actually about normal, other parts are not as bright as normal, if that makes sense.
Cheers,

OK - gotcha,

3rd digit is burning hot... still leaning towards short somewhere... could be a connector issue too.

Thanks again, will check for short, assuming not connector because it is the same in 2 different machines.
Cheers,
