Title: EM score reel - BB Lighting fix
Post by: oldpins on June 25, 2011, 10:00:50 AM
For all EM restorers here's a fix for the 'Gottlieb' bank of bulb sockets which light the score reels in the back box. These are found on both top and bottom of the score reel windows. Often they are rusty, and contacts are unreliable. You only need to repair those that are not making good contact, however I did replace all as shown.

1. Remove rust, sand and clean angle.
1. Using new BB lighting sockets, drill a 12 mm hole through the angle.
2. Slide in the new socket and solder each contact to the angle. (Tip: Ensure the angle is clean for solder to take)
3. Bend all top contacts at right angle, bridge and solder all contacts.
4. Connect wiriing to unit
5. Paint, ready for installation. (Important: Place some old bulbs in sockets before painting)
