Title: Tax Bonus Payments?
Post by: MartyJ on February 03, 2009, 07:23:37 PM
OK,

If I understand it correctly, middle income earners can expect a one-off bonus payment of $950 if your earning under $80K (your income I hope not combined)...If there's two incomes under that $1900...Now to support the local economy, I think it would be very important to spend this money on pinballs.  I hope there is a container coming in around the right time!  $#$

ill make this sweet and simple...it is a con.

check derivatives market and see whats owed...they are just vying for position based on attrition, if your not around...you cant be payed off?! THIS IS NOT BEING REPORTED

theyve all backed a really bad favorite(it ran last...and they bet the house)...and its costing them big...so ...theyre taking it.   bail out?   @.@  life support in its pure essence, who remembers the party game when the music stops.....not many chairs either from what i can deduce.

orderly bankruptcy of nations (not too fast...cant have a popular uprise now(they will call you a terrorist anyway!))

my only entry to this engineered mess + 2 cents    *%*

the question is...when does the music stop?

regards

I heard the $950 was for total earnings less than $100,000.

Dammit...

I read it on the ATO website as what was on your taxable income

http://www.ato.gov.au/corporate/content.asp?doc=/content/00178930.htm&page=3&H3

but I would be very surprised if I was correct in this... ^.^

So what happens to those of us that collect their family payment at tax time rather than fortnightly? I missed the last Rudd economic stimulus payment because of that so will I miss this one as well? Then again, it will be nice to get a lump at tax time this year.

Well if I do get this one, it will be a first.!

My understanding is that as long as your 07/08 tax return is in and completed, they will either mail you a cheque to your address or if they have your BSB+account it will go straight in.  You can update them with your account info its not already with them for electronic returns...

Well, to me that looks like personal income not household.  BUT until I see the money no celebrating from me...

I don't know if this will work for the economy, but I think rather than pay off credit card bills or other stuff, just go out and spend (on pinballs) , or pinball parts (LEDs!), or Neon Signs, or getting that playfield repaired!

This is the information tax agents were sent (me included). Basically if you had some net tax to pay 2007/08 and taxable income of $100,000 or less then you are eligible. It is not per couple.

sounds good, any extra $$ the government pays out is a bonus. $950 per tax payer for incomes up to $80k over that will be less than $950.

Watching Kevin and Wayne plunge the country into deficit with vote-buying as oppsoed to sound economiic judgment is really disturbing

Why don't they just keep printing money - Zimbabwe style!

It is time the Labor government relaised that Australia is following the world into recession and retail therapy is not the answer

it shows the coalition have the balls to call Kevin on this one

It will actually generate some debate on the actual merits of this package as opposed to throwing money at a problem and hoping it goes away

Also got the brochure today explaining how we can claim back to school expenses for kids this financial year !

You can claim Internet charges, laptops etc  ( we actually bought em a laptop at Xmas ) etc etc - with 2 kids I can claim up to $2250.00 - and with the laptop, Internet charges and general other back to school expenses I will come very close to that  #@! - this is all up and above the past and current cash handouts - its insanity

Wotto,

Don't think it would be $2,250

$750 for each child undertaking primary studies (i.e., maximum refund of $375 per child, per year); and
$1,500 for each child undertaking secondary studies (i.e., maximum refund of $750 per child, per year).

Yeah , no sorry....I meant I can claim up to that amount as I have a child in each category and obviously depending on the ( wifes ) tax rate/ tax paid etc we would get SOME of that claimed amount back.

Still, for someone that NEVER gets tax back , anything will be good.

I concur...

Government gets 30% back through taxes if people choose to waste their benefit on gambling etc..

This remains a stupid idea that will f uck the economy and this country royally

The Reserve Bank Governor disagrees. :)

(Out of interest, from what source are you obtaining your "figures" from?)

20/2/2009
Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Glenn Stevens has backed the Federal Government's stimulus packages, saying the economy would be weaker without them.

"2009 and, to some extent, 2010 would have seen a lower pace of aggregate demand in Australia, absent those measures," Mr Stevens said.

$3billion of the $8.7billion went to reduce credit card debt

so basically the banks got the benefit of the stimulus

Doule edged sword. They got some capital back but lose out on the exorbitant interest that $3 billion in loans would create.

however in the end it comletely negates the purpose of the stimulus package which was to put money back into the economy by spending as oppsoed to the reduction of debt.

So overall, it just shows what a stupid policy it actually was, basically using taxpayers funds to give money companies that don't need assistance

but what do you expect from Labor?

OK, got 4 kids, 2 adults, so shouldn't I get around $5400? I reckon you could go real close to an Addams Family with that.
