some info for those curious

"AC/DC Gibson SG 4" miniature guitar.

This replica of Angus' guitar is handmade and hand-painted in stunning detail.

Guitar comes with its own mounting bracket and installation instructions and can be mounted just about anywhere on your playfield.  Simply insert the mounting bracket under any screw or bolt where there is clearance for the guitar.  When placed near the pop bumpers the tuning keys illuminate when the pop bumper flashers go off; very cool!

Another great product from Laseriffic!"

I am amazed no one has developed a 3D Printer plastic canon for this - would take a a few hours to deveop and sort out but then $5 to print and simply send out to people and look better than the crappy cannon there now.

here is a link to some other mods - lighting for the lightening bolts and band which does look good.

Here is a small, simple and not too in your face mod from laseriffic in the states - guitar within the playfield.

http://www.laseriffic.com/shop/

there is a collector series of these min scaled guitars licensed, that is just one of them, they cost $5-$10.
my mate collects them and they look real and have branding and all even little cases.
even that elvis guitar mod is one of those. so dont pay that $25 bucks, look on ebay.

oh also that one in the picture isnt even the good ones thats the $5 copy ones, you get ones that are way better for $20 with case and guitar stand

I'm happy and i think it looks great so that's all that matters really, $5 or $25 not really an issue.

not putting shit on it, letting people know if they want another option their are these little guitars you can buy, that a bloody awesome looking. its a cool mod but if you are a perfectionist you can get a correct guitar. as pictured above looks just like the real thing. im sorry i mentioned it cheers

Don't worry about it OJ. I respect people that don't take things at face "value".  ^^^

I once pointed out on another forum that this:
http://pinballdecals.com/MMDragonModPage.html

was simply this: (with $10 worth of leds and wiring)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Papo-2005-Two-Headed-Dragon-Plastic-Figure-/150946560547?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D3675108970279722668%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D150946560547%26

and didn't the sparks fly (pinballdecals is a top bloke doing it for the hobby, not the money blah blah blah).... #@#

Just for other members who have purchased an item  from Andy(Rottyguy) I left positive feedback for him using the Aussie Pinball feedback system.

If anyone wants to leave the positive feedback as well, all you have to do is click on a members avatar name, it then takes u to the members profile page, then just scroll to base of page and click on submit feedback. You will then see a +1 or +4 etc appear next to the members name after u have submitted feedback, which is a good system to show other members that u have done positive business with that member. It has a drop box for both buyer and seller. Good little system the mods have set up.  ^^^

Here is a el wire ramp mod and train mod and does a heap of other mods for the recent pins all for sale

Pinsider HemiOrange09
I have been asked by a few Pinside Members to sell these mods for the AC/DC machines, I am just seeing it there are others that want his mod for their machines.... This kit is 100% plug-in-play and runs off from a sound activation to make them pulse. There is a manual sensitivity adjustment on it, so if the machine is soft or Cranked up they will look the same with a quick adjustment. You can mount the EL wires two ways on your machine, using zip ties and drilling holes in the ramps or very clear packing tape works great and that is what I did on my Pro machine. I had used 5mm in this Pro and I am thinking going with a 2.6mm for this mod, the 5mm was a little hard to run and make the turns on the ramps. This kits will be about $135.00 shipped and I just want to see first if anyone want is before I wire up the directions. Post here or shoot me a PM if you would like a set of these for your machine

Sorry to show the video again but I know not everyone has seen it and will ask for it....

I cut these flipper protectors up last night for my AC/DC pinball.

I made a template from the side rail off my 05 Stern Grand Prix pin. They are only 2mm thick, best part is that flipper button holds them in - No screws  $#$

If any AP members wants a scan of the template let me know, flipper button hole is 35mm.

that includes postage as well (I fixed the original post - sorry as I removed some details for other countries and lost the postage part ... so about $30 to $55 for 2 unique decals isn't too bad when it enhances the features ND $10-$15 for postage

+ 1 with Leon(V8racefan) a bit expensive

I already had something else in mind for the bottom of the ramps.
I was going to colour photo copy the lightning bolts that are already on the playfield standing up onto sticky paper and install them under both ramps so it looks like arrows pointing up the ramps or lightning bolts pointing up the ramps.  ^^^ Reckon that would look better IMO.

I like the USA guys artistic efforts, but those 2 x stickers he has produced wouldnt even cost a dollar per send out, and he is making $32 off fellow pinheads. Anyway, thanks for posting the link, but not for me this time. Some people will like it though.

Here is an idea for a high end mod for a real ac/dc lover who is dedicated.

Not sure if it is possible but could be awesome for the Pro owners, what if you purchased while available a AC/DC Premium playfield from AMD for around the $600 then merge all the fittings etc from the Pro playfield to the Premium but then get someone like Dan who is doing the Creature lcd mod, do a lcd for the see through section of the Premium playfield and then have concert footage showing etc. Could make a Premium guy want a Pro.....

Now who would take the big step and you also get to keep a Pro playfield on the wall as a backup or decoration.

with the picture imagine the bottom playfield being a lcd with concert songs or fire footage or cannons shooting or trains  smokin by, or even a blast of smoke when you shoot the cannon

Not sure how this would work on a pro without some work on the hardware/software. Keep in mind the major differences between the pro and premium namely:
Cross playfield ramp.
Lower playfield.
Hell Bell.
Tri-colour LEDs.
Mechanical band.
Drop targets.

Not sure if it is worth the cost and trouble.
Title: Re: AC/DC - Playfield Mods and Extra's

Best to just get a jigsaw, cut out the Angus face on the Pro to the exact shape as the LE/Premium plastic clear window that is on the LE etc, making sure you use a router to allow for a lip for the window to sit on around all the edges ofcourse, and then add a LCD screen with movies.

I had the idea when i first bought my Pro, but after further thought, I decided the pinball world would cringe if I went nuts with a woodworking jigsaw and changed the playfield for life. Never say Never.lol  &&  One day I might just wake up n do it.lol

Have to get the part number and price for the clear lower playfield window from the ACDC Premium/LE.

That's scary a NIB and a jigsaw, I did see a guy in the US cut the PF on a Tron to move some posts to make the gem shot easier weird hey and a guy in Australia was going to drill his acdc to close the outlanes up to make it easier but why it goes against the games design?

Talking about blocking outlanes, I purchased a Last Action Hero from a bloke, and he had put/jammed ping pong balls at the top of the outlanes so he couldnt lose the ball very easy, and also sat on a high chair so he could play for a much longer time. Luckily the machine was in excellent condition.

If I ever get a jigsaw to my AC/DC, I will film it.
Sort of like filming a plane crash. Something u dont want to see, but u just have to watch it.lol  %.% @.@

I tell you you will wreck it, the jigsaw up stroke will splinter the playfield and graphics / clear coat and you will end up buying a new playfield anyway. I would cnc router it any day over using a jigsaw....

IF I ever, (was the main part of the last post) meaning the chances of me ever trying it is about the same as me winning lotto.lol
Thats why I also used the plane crash annalogy, cause me and wood working tools would equal 10 million youtube hits and the loss of one hand.  %.%

I was never going to use a jigsaw, but just threw that in cause I have no idea of the proper names when it comes to anything powered that one may cut fingers off in a attempt at mucking around with a playfield.

I would take it to a high end kitchen place I know nearby which has all the expensive stuff and someone who knows what they are doing.
Having it done, and not having to completely strip the playfield would be the answer, then finding someone skilled at the kitchen place would be the next.lol  I think u could get away with someone doing by hand who was skilled with wood working. You would certainly cut it less than what u needed and work from there having spare wood to play with versus going too much too fast n stuffing it up. Trusting a computer to do it would also be a danger, one wrong number input, and its also curtains......

Already have something like this on the go, not for the playfield though but to replace the plastic with the band on it, top right. It was put on the backburner when i started the creature LCD.

Yeah Cavey I thought you were kidding but there was a touch of you might just do it.  But if a kitchen mob was going to do it and I use to make cnc's for the kitchen mobs, they only have clearance for about 100-150mm and the playfield would have to be rock solid fastened down and getting your heights perfect for the recessed edge would be dam hard so I believe the playfield would have to be stripped underneath and stripped on top as the router has a dust catcher on it and it would foul with surrounding components or if no dust catcher you would have dust in all your light sockets and mechs in the end a little more for a new playfield.

But in the end this was just a crazy idea, for someone that wanted to be unique and who was cashed up.
Title: Re: AC/DC - Playfield Mods and Extra's
Post by: Caveoftreasures on April 02, 2013, 11:56:53 AM
It may not be too crazy at all Swinksy. Your ideas may still have some merit with a few adjustments.lol

The answer is to cut the shape of the Angus face out to the exact shape of the LE clear Angus window, with the playfield out of the machine, still populated onto a playfield rotisserie. There is nothing underneath in the way, and nothing on top really in the way either, if smaller tools are used. (IF)

Just find someone who is extremely skilled at woddworking, who can do things n perform miracles with hand tools/hand power tools/steady hand etc etc etc, therefore saving money, not having to buy a LE/Premium playfield, and save massive amounts of labour.
Therefore, for the cost of the playfield window, and someone who has woodworking skills, plus the DVD LCD screen/power supply, it is very achievable.
Getting the right wood working person is the key I believe. ?

If u dont like it, change it back, but once u do it, u might just think its cool enough to leave. ?

On a ACDC Back in Black, I would be painting the cannon mostly chrome colour with a few black accents, just to be different ??

I've heard on the LEs the paint comes off the canon plastic when removed like it did with TNT detonator plastic so I'm worried about removing it :-)

Got my platic cover off without any problems - no paint loss. Cannon fitted easy after the hacksaw job. Just had trouble finding a longer screw and spacer to attach it with - Bunnings sold out of that particular size only! (4x 15 mm by the way).

now on and excellent. Looks like it belongs, and easier to aim. Well worth the $9.
now for the code upgrade....

Yes, as per the initial video. Very easy to do. the new method shown keeping both sides of the cannon support end looks cool though too - but probably more difficult to cut.

have a mod almost ready for the Hells Bell Aluminium block - waiting on some special wood grain plastic, a big thanks to ddstoys for helping me on this one. I designed it with artificial splits and end grain to give the weathered timber beam look. It will be a simply slide on and click in place - no glue, no screws and easily removable for the purists that don't like mods. PM me if you are interested, prices not available until I complete the finished ones but aiming for under $30.

This looks great even in grey way better than the big ugly shiny aluminum brick wood finish will be even better.

Not sure if and will appreciated this but I was testing the durability of this 3d printing and I literally had to stand on it side ways to get it to break and its only mm's thick.   Bloody amazing stuff...

can anyone send me a few pictures of the AC/DC pro bell top panel looking front on, top and back and also PM some measurements - width of plate, height of plate and thickness to clear (rear mounting bracket, bracket and rivets etc)

if one person can help I can do a pro version of the bell block in a timber grain with Hells Bell engraved in it for free.

The Premium and LE Bell Hells Bell Beam is finished, painted and waiting on delivery to daniel to see how it fits just to make sure everything is right, but happy to say it does not hit the opto during a full rotation test.

and some apron game cards by Aurich

"When I did The Shadow project I thought it would be cool to have new instruction cards that matched, to make it feel more like a factory design. So I did the same thing this time, every translite order will also ship with a set of cards. You'll get three, because the rules for the Pro and Premium/LE are different (the lower playfield) so no matter what machine you have you'll be set.

I thought that for guests it would be nice if the song rules were easier to read, so rather than cram it all on one card I broke the rules across both of them, and the songs get their own jukebox-themed card that's hopefully easier to parse."

and he ended up making a downloadable file

"Okay, new plan! I am posting the cards for people to freely print. If you have no graphical skills at all, I will make you a custom song card for $10. But if you have even a simple image editing program I'm including a card with all the song names blank, and you can simply type over them yourself. Easy! Due to a couple requests I am also including a version of the "Helen" card with no signature, and no Free Play message.

Each card should be printed at 300 dpi to come out the right size. If that's greek to you we can help you out. Alternately if you order the translite I'm including pre-printed cards in it for those who don't want to deal with making their own.

Download the zip here with 4 high quality JPEGs in it.

A preview of what they look like:"

I will attach the downloadable files in the next post.

To order these email laseriffic@att.net – don't PM Joe, don't PM me, send an email!

I teamed up with Joe from Laseriffic, home the best AC/DC toppers in the known universe, to do a laser cut Helen topper. If you already have my Helen translite maybe you want a topper to match, or maybe it's too much Helen for one man to handle, but I thought these would look great on top of a stock Luci translite. Good way to get the girls together without losing any of the Stern art.

Joe will be handling all the orders and builds, so it's the same quality you've already grown to trust.

These are $130 + shipping, email laseriffic@att.net if you want one.

This is the prototype Joe just cut. The horns and lightning bolt necklace are red mirror. The lava drop on the tip of the tail is red opaque and her necklace band is black.
Title: Re: AC/DC Mods - LCD screen to replace the band
Post by: swinks on April 24, 2014, 07:43:14 PM
PinballMike who did the US version of the Creature lcd is proto typing a small lcd where the band is with the concept being " 15 different video mode options for the project. I'll give you a hint - 12 of the videos will be for the songs"

"This time I want it to be plug and play, so the plan is to provide everything (screen included). I don't know about the pricing yet, just trying to get it working 100%. I have a bad habit of scope creeping my own projects"

utoplay=1&rel=0

"We will give you (the customer) the tools to make your own videos features for: (1) all 12 songs, (2) attract mode, (3) encore, (4) song selection mode, and (5) when the mini playfield is actively in use. We will include stock videos for every feature, but you have the ability to easily make your own videos using our custom video editing software.

Just like the creature MOD, we will give you the ability to add as many videos as you want for any of the features listed above. For example, if you want to have 20 different “Back in Black” videos you just put 20 uniquely named videos in the “Back in Black” folder located on the MOD’s USB drive. Then every time you start BIB mode you’ll see a different video until all 20 videos have been played.

The video editing software is designed to run on Windows7 64 bit machines. The software will allow you to: (1) down load source videos directly from YouTube, (2) crop/resize/rotate/etc. any source video footage, (3) utilize stock overlays or custom ones you create, (4) select start and stop times for source video clipping, and (5) splice two videos together to make one finished video. The software is very powerful, but extremely easy to use. If you’ve played around with our creature MOD then you’ve already seen it.

So, you can easily customize your LCD, making it display whatever you want. In theory you could play your machine for hours and never see the same video twice. If you want to hook our MOD up to a remote/external screen no problem – just run an HDMI cable from our system to your screen. Just don’t replace the DMD yet, we might have something colorful for you later down the road  "

Mike has finished his mod and ready to sell.
&feature=player_embedded

Update:

We are currently putting the finishing touches on the programming (which is based on V1.65 of the game code – currently this MOD is only for Premium and LE machines) and should have several beta units out for testing within the next 2 weeks - you guys know who you are

We are still working on the video editing software, so it will probably be a few more weeks before the software is available. I shoot some video this week and start working on the installation manual as well.

Here is a list of the ACDC MOD V1.0 interactive features:

1) Attract video – plays when the game is in attract mode
2) Song videos – each of the 12 songs featured in the game have their own video modes
3) Song Select – This is a static image that displays when the player is selecting a song from the juke box
4) Drain images – These are static images that are displayed after a ball drains (nice fun taunting comments about your flipper skills)
5) Mini playfield video – plays when the mini playfield is active
6) Encore video – plays when the encore mode is active

Like the CFTBL MOD, ACDC will utilize a USB drive to store all of the various images and videos displayed on the LCD screen. Also, we have programmed the MOD so you can have multiple video/images per interactive mode. For example, you can have 10 different “attract” videos stored on the USB. The MOD will simple cycle through your 10 different videos, playing a new one every time you go into attract mode until all 10 videos have been played. The USB is easily accessible. We’ve modeled our design off of JJP’s WOZ setup, so the USB will be plugged into an extension cable located right next to the coin box. You just pull the USB out and change video/images as you like – very easy.

The video editing software will be very similar to the CFTBL MOD’s software. It will allow you to: download videos directly off of YouTube, loop, resize, rotate, crop, specify start and stop times for video trimming, video splicing, and more. We are currently working on adding a text overlay feature, using the Squealer (aka ACDC) font as well as a static image tool. This would enable users to create their own custom “taunting drain images” or change the song name intros (for guys that have used Pinball Browser to change songs featured in the game). We are also looking into animation effects (fade in/outs, stuff like that).

The MOD includes:

1) 5” HD LCD screen
2) Powder coated screen mounting hardware
3) LCD screen protector
4) Circuit board mounting plate w/ RPi and LCD driver board
5) USB drive
6) SD Card
7) Custom game interface cabling
 USB extension cable
9) HDMI cable
10) LCD ribbon cable
11) Game interface serial cable

The MOD is 100% reversible with no permanent alterations to the actual pinball machine.

The MOD will be available for purchase ($475 + shipping + PayPal fees) directly from our website:

http://www.pinballmiked.com/?product_cat=acdc

For customers in the US that want to avoid PayPal fees, you can purchase a MOD directly from me. If you want to be added to the waiting list (first come first served - this is not exclusive to the US) for this MOD PLEASE EMAIL ME DIRECTLY: mike@pinballmiked.com

Regards,

Mike

%)%Over $500 shipped but I think it may be worth it as you can use the software to customise the video and messages to whatever you want so there is next to no restriction on the creativity side. I might get one for Luci

Do you reckon they'd be hard to hook up? I'm tempted to.

Peter

Yeah me to peter. By all accounts from pinball mike it's not too difficult and totally reversible. That said looking at the kit it looks like a bit of an effort tho. Certainly not changing out a "no bulb". I might wait till a few kits roll out and hear from buyers before I fork out $500 on it. No choice at the moment. He's sold out for now.

Going to be interesting to see how the 12v rail is going to handle this especially with people who have already got undercab, topper and speaker grill lights etc.
I would suggest a separate power supply might be needed.

some info on the lcd screen mod, Mike from PinballMikeD has kindly asked for me to join his collaborative team for the AC/DC mod as well as quite a few future mods where I will be specialising in toys for his high tech / quality mods. This is my test mod that he has asked for to finish off his lcd mod and to see if I am worthy  #@#. He is currently developing this lcd mod also for the Pro AC/DC as well.

Mike wanted something 3D and affordable to dress up the front of the mod between the metal plate and lexan screen to give that look similar to the Black Ice Tour concert stage. There are 4 parts to this mod which are all just under 1/4 inch (6mm) thick and simple use the 4 supplied bolts and slot together sandwiched between the metal plate and the lexan screen.

The material for the side gears and top gears is polished alumide which is a 3D printed material that is plastic as well as metal flakes to give it that cast metal look. The stage is a flat black unpolished 3D printed material that is plastic. All parts will be professionally printed at Shapeways and most probably fitted by Mike.

I am still looking at tweaking / fine tuning the design so please join in and share any thoughts.

Mike has asked me if I want to be the possible distributor for his mods for down under, so this could happen if there is enough interest for various mods.

Cheers, Jady

Looks great so far Jady.  ^^^  Good news for aussie customers as well if you decide to become a distributor.

here is an alternative as I felt that the gears started taking over the lcd mod so added a recess to the stage and changed the top panel to show "Black Ice Tour" as the AC/DC pinball is based off this tour and the 40th anniversary of AC/DC. Curious to see what others think, gears of banner. Or there could be 2 options to purchase to swap out for a change.

design is finished so if anyone gets a lcd mod they can dress it up with this kit - gear or tour banner

test print done and fits perfectly, so anyone who gets PinballMikeD's AC/DC screen mod can get the stage toy kit directly from Shapeways soon.

Mike and I discussed the stage parts and they will be available directly from shapeways as Mike has already completed quite a few units included boxed etc and the horny hats wont fit to the assembly in the box.

It is a simple kit to assemble and can be found at this link.
http://www.shapeways.com/search?q=pinballmiked

or when you are in Shapeways simply do a search on PinballMikeD

The whole kit is $56.90 and the 2 spacers are not really needed but is a personal choice to fill the gaps at the bottom dropping the kit price to $52.30. Also most of the parts are a fixed colour except the Tour Banner being available in Black or Polished Metal (being a little dearer).
