Title: firepower restoration
Post by: beaky on December 12, 2012, 08:27:32 AM
what a score, a complete firepower for $300  $#$
Thanks to a fellow member for selling me this bargain  ^^^ he bought it in the same condition i bought it in so any hack / butcher jobs i mention was not done by him.
I still have to pick up the main cabinet but i do have the back box here

Machine is complete, boards boot,
someone has done some damage to the displays and hv section of the power supply, the HV section had a 5 amp fuse in it so it had gone bang at some time in the past so someone cut the power lead off.
Cabinet needs a lot of work but playfield is great.

I will post more photos as i go

Wow, what a bargain.
Firepower is on my Top 10 list. Pure, raw, in your face pinball. A challenge with the best thumpers in the business. Way ahead of its time for a 1980 pin. Ritchie at his devilish best.

Wow!! That is a fantastic score Andrew. FP is by far my favorite early 1980's game, and up there as one of my overall favorites as well.

Nice score Andy absolute bargain.  Picking up the final pieces for my firepower project so hopefully won't be long till I can try it with drop targets

finally got it all up and running.
sound board had some issues which required some new I.C.sockets, PIA ram and then it had a problem with the speech, the gap for the speech was there in test but it had none. ended up being a faulty / shorted 1800 pf ceramic capacitor on the sound board (C2). i used my oscilloscope to find this fault

boards have been repaired to get it going but still need the full beaky rebuild

had a few games and after a few hiccups it's all good.
i thought i would get a few games in before stripping it down.

here are the pics of the good

seriously thinking of getting the playfield Clear coated so its great condition can be preserved.
all i have done to the playfield is vacuum all the bits of dirt off it so there are no abrasives to scratch it.
