Title: Gottlieb Big House Rewire
Post by: The pinballist formally known as Dean Morgan on December 29, 2012, 08:50:42 PM
Purchased a project Big House. This machine has had some idiot cut ALL the wiring into the head box, the whole loom severed at cabinet level below the neck.  This includes all cabinet wiring from coin door, transformer etc and all wiring from the play field.  To make matters worse the wiring and connectors in back box have then been removed and are missing.  So you cannot simply rejoin.

I have sourced all NEW edge connectors for the MPU, Driver, Boards and new molex for power supply, display, sound boards etc etc.

This is one big task, however, definitely achievable.

Will post some before picks tomorrow and then some progress reports over the coming months. In no hurry to fix this so will progress slowly over some months as I have spare time.

Was that the one that sold on Ebay recently?

Looked to be a good machine except for the wiring.
Be interested to see how you go with the rewire.

Yes, it was on eBay, but was pulled off.  The seller was a member here and I got it from him.  Cabinet and play field are good with minimal wear.  Defiantly worth fixing, I can't stand to see any salvageable pin not saved

Great attitude Dean - I admire people who take on challenges like this. I'd hate to see it parted out. These SYS80as and SYS80bs are a blast to play once they are working 100%. I look forward to the updates  ^^^

The machine was certainly too good to part out. Glad it eventually found a capable owner

Is this the loom from the Mpu to display? Or display to power?

Not sure - I know I have a couple of backboards with the display looms in place, never worked out what they were as never had  reason to do so. I can send a photo if you like.

Thanks I stand corrected. So I take it that big house was one of the last system 80 b's.

Thanks Nick, but they are either system 1 or system80, not 80b.  80b had the alphanumeric display, your photos are for four six digit displays.  Thanks for looking thou

Hope you get it going again. I was watching this the first time it went on eBay but I ended up going to Canberra to get blue chip. I thought it was a system 3 cos it was shaped the same a cactus jacks.
