Dare I say, a resurgence in pinball interest and it looks like it is worldwide. Comes in 20 year cycles by the looks of it, once every generation.

Just keep the forum open, welcoming and receptive to new members and you'll always be one step ahead of those who "pale in comparison".

Look at what has happened to rgp v pinside over the last 6-12 months. Maintaining the parochial cliques and "pecking order mentality" ensures a slow but steady forum death.

As said above, there are a ton of new guys getting into pinball and are looking for an Aussie forum where they are not treated with suspicion, mistrust or downright hostility. (Hopefully they find this forum first and don't get discouraged by others.)

I think that newcomers to the hobby are pointed to the right direction and are therefore not prone to making the mistakes that they would have 5-10 years ago. Education and free advice prepares hobbyists.

The "Welcome" mat is always out on our doorstep.

Does rgp still exist? I used to read that a couple of years ago regularly but it got pathetic. Everything turned into a soap opera and infighting. It got to the point where I wouldn't even consider starting a thread or something as you would likely be met with snide remarks or hostile posts. Plus it made finding valuable technical info hard too as you had to wade thru a mountain of personal garbage.

I stopped reading around the height of the MM remake saga. I also recall some annoying bloke in Prescott AZ eventually getting death threats or something.  !@#

I tried to do my bit for APA on the project Pete but they cut it. Say what you like about the AC/DC comp but I think it may have let a few know that pinball is still about ^^^
