Just curious, because all talk of the zombies and then JJP mention screen printing and sterns don't. Plus the detail in the iron man is quite fine and just got me thinking.

In addition when people say a kiss that has a overlay plays crap, I just started wondering about the sterns as they play fast but what are they doing different.

you can get fine printing from a screen printer

many years ago screen printers were doing billboards at 25 Lpi and  45 Lpi was considered "fine"
( most newspapers today are 65- 85 Lpi   mid range magazines 100-133,  top shelf mags are  150 - 200 Lpi )

Screen printers can do fine screening up to 120 LPI (maybe higher now) although I don't know what the screening onto wood is

if I can find a screen gauge I'll put it on a stern played and measure it
from memory WMS play fields were around  110 - 120 Lpi

but that won't tell you how it was printed  screen vs sticker
