i think a full sized lcd would be good for pinball, and i doubt it will change pinball to much, people know what pinball should be and any fool who is stupid enough to make a video game in the backglass like some tried to do with a few pins with tubed screens at one point or another would fail just like those machines, it would not be popular so just like successful dmd's there is a point you need to keep the machine a pinball machine, the lcd would make it more appealing for sited pinball imo, a full moving backglass would look awesome, and you could make the screen look like a regular backglass and even have a dmd replicated into the lcd image, so it looks like a regular dmd with a moving backglass image, and also what would make it appealing for people to site them, they could put advertising into the lcd.
i think we forget here siting pinballs is better for the pinball industry than it is for just home us. i hate these new machines that seem only usefull for homes only and pinball makers dont even add coin mechs to the machines as standard now. thats stupid these are commercial machine imo. pinball manufacturers seem to be only targeting home use, and there is no real reason why pinball isnt back in shops and being sited. i think to be honest allot of the reason pinball isnt seen sited is the distributers of these machine dont go around selling these things and being like reps and asking shops, our shop for example has dozans of reps a month trying to sell me arcade machines of one kind or another. ive had people try and sell me skill tester machines, crane machines, block game machines, video game machines, even had guys try and sell me new repro sitdown arcade machines, vending machine of every sort imaginable, but not once have i had a rep come around trying to sell or even hire me a pinball. its a failure by the manufacturers forgetting what pinballs are made for. you cant even use size as an excuse, as it doesnt take up much more room than a claw machine, and you see them everywhere.
