The 8 ball did look nice but if your going to restore a pin why not do it properly ! The orange was like a "glow in the dark" neon colour , backglass was obviously missing the locking bar as it was held in place with two screws in the top corners and the legs where wrong. Maybe good for someone after a nice looking pin but not for a collector who prefer these machines more true to original. Thats my two bobs worth anyway.
Yeah I wasnt 100% sure that the cabinet repaint for 8 ball was authentic colours or just what somebody decided was "close enough" but it looked ok enough and I didnt have time to be really picky when I looked them over, hence the fact I didn't notice the backglass lock bar missing, but As Nino said for $2500 it was a really good buy, considering the cost of the new playfield and backglass and other plastics and new displays and a repaint.
I reckon whoever restored it would have been lucky to break even on that resto job, and that would be assuming that they bought the unrestored game in the first place for say $500.
If you added in labour for the playfield swap and say board repairs as well then I would say you have made a loss. Bargain for someone
