if u are worried about std bulbs ruining the backglass etc, yes, good idea, but for translites, it doesnt matter.
Not entirely true, every translite that i have seen with damage (prob 10-20% of machines i have seen) - ie: flaking and the trasnlite starting to lose the solid white backing ALWAYS starts directly in front of a bulb. So while damage to a translite does not happen to every machine, when it does, it is almost always related to heat generated from incandescent globes.
