I own a hs2 great game, the original rubber colour is white. White rubber is regarded as better by most pinheads as it has better 'bounce' but is harder to keep clean, a quick wipe over with wax will clean white rubber as good as new.
For your inserts heat up from behind with a hair dryer and push up or down with a flat piece of wood on the top of the playfield as a guide to your height, you can then glue them from under the playfield to stop them moving again
As for cleaning Novus 2 is the best and after clean you should apply a good quality pure Carnauba wax like Mothers brand. Wax on, wax off
