Re: More over-priced dealer and private pins.....

It is interesting the prices being so high lately on ebay, are these people actually selling anything, or do they all see everyone else's overpriced listings (that are not actually) selling and get excited, before listing it and getting nowhere?

I suppose the occasional person wins the lotto but I see many listings that if you check their history have been re-listed a dozen times without obviously getting any bidders...

I know I got picked up for apparently selling me IJ too cheap, but honestly I felt I sold it for what I felt it is worth, and at a price to not stuff around fishing for someone not willing to pay too high a price..

I also bought a Shadow last weekend, very dirty and a few minor faults but nothing I couldn't easily fix, but below all the grime the playfield was very good (except sanctum which is fixable) and the cabinet decals were original and very good (which is valuable to me)... I paid 2k in the end, maybe a little too much but for me it was reasonable as the repairs needed were very minor and mostly labour (which I enjoy) not parts.. But the guy had spent months trying to sell it, listing it at 2.7k and thinking it would be a quick sale as others were listed by dealers at 4.5k at the time...

Needless to say he kept dropping his price and refused my 2k offer but eventually came back to me.. He had paid 2.7k himself 10 years ago from bumper action (receipt still in the cashbox), so considering 10 years of inflation and the amount of money he spent having it periodically serviced (he was not technical I guess?) he lost a lot of money on it.. I wonder if that is the same problem for a lot of the overpriced listings? they just overpaid and sunk far too much money into them?
