Another way of doing it Dan is use the coin lockout coil on the coin door for about 3-5 seconds. That usually works well.
I did the coin door coil method. It worked really well.
I only did it for a about 2 seconds. I was a bit scared to do it too long. Anyway the result was great.

Isn't the coin lockout coil 25 volts on these??!! i would've thought that would destroy the display! (i hadn't heard of this being done before to revive a dull display)
