Quick update,
Added a varistor (ie: there was not one there to start with) and replaced the thermistor from parts at Jaycar.
Machine start up for a min or two, then smoke from the line filter assembly. Power off and un plugged.
New thermistor burnt to ash!
At a lose, pulled the line filter assembly from IJ and took the risk. Success. It must be the line filter.
Will order a new line filter and thermistor this week.
