Also check connectors to the speakers. From memory, these use the same sound board as the REV3 DE machines. If the speakers on the speaker panel and lower cabinet speaker are cutting out then I suspect the Sound ROMs need to be reseated - and if the sound PAL chips are socketed - reseat them as well.
