it might be like the CAD program DraftSight which is a free autocad program developed by the guys that do 3D Solidworks and they hope people get use to particular setups, command and function and then buy into their high end range of programs.

Not sure if its the user or the program but the reworking done for a simple design is unreal... the first shape could have been vector pointed, converted to curves and then the lines you want curved can be manipulated. The whole shape could have been done in one working... instead it was over sized as square, then a curve added to size.. original manipulated to curve and then merged, resized etc.

Problem you find with a lot of these programs is that they don't go direct to machine and a 3rd party program needs to be utilised. Im assuming that files need to be converted to PDF, EPS etc and then fed through a program that links the plotter,CNC etc?
