Yeah - what a goose. Rebuild went well without any major issues, rebuilt one popper, put lane diverter back together - all worked perfectly - then a few loose sling posts let me down. Good lesson though - check the easiest solution first! (I was starting to wonder if I needed change the kicker angles etc....).  Cheers.
