I used to have a link but I can't find it anymore.
One guy restored an EM cabinet and he got very nice, thin webbing by using a spray gun.
He used black nitrocellulose paint (the finding of which is the hard part of the process) straight (un-thinned). The thick paint just came out stringy and looked to match old Gottlieb EM webbing perfectly. I'm sure that tinkering with the settings on the gun to get it right would take a minute or few, but it sure looked nice.
I like Retropin's idea. If it works, it would be a really easy & cheap solution.
p.s. There is a supplier for black nitrocellulose about ten minutes drive from me. Only sell in gallons but it's not too expensive (around $30 IIRC). I'm not trying to rub it in, rather maybe illustrating that it's possibly not as hard to find as reports indicate. This is a store that sells supplies for refinishing fine furniture and doing other woodwork and the like (guitars, etc.). Maybe this helps...??
