I use the heavy duty brackets too. Of course, I'm usually gluing a beat to death cab back together!
The insert under the apron is supposedly for scratch testing, from the stories I've heard. They can test the finish and still use the playfield if it truly scratches it.
Never understood that, but it's what I've been told!
