I will have to repair, do you know if there was a centre post behind flippers originally?
Also regarding mylar I will be trying to remove it.

No there was no post behind the flippers when it left the factory.
You have to remember that game is over 30 years old, so it will have it's fair share of war stories.
She is an awesome game condition wise and also in game play.
Enjoy your first game and before long it will either have another sitting by it
