Playfield Update - underside

A huge amount of work needs to be done to the underside of the playfield. There is more corrosion than rust, and it needs to be tidied up a little ! The decision was made to replace every light socket in the game - playfield AND head. Thankfully, Greg had all the original Gottlieb parts to complete this task. The original sockets would be intermittant and the job of cleaning them would be too time consuming and might not address the issues.

Stripped Playfield

All assemblies removed to be rebuilt. Notice the globe holders - all were corroded and in some cases, the globes were "rusted shut" in the sockets ! Everything under here will be cleaned or replaced. Most of the parts have been cleaned and placed in the tumbler.

Commence Rebuilding

I'm re assembling in sections. The parts have had the corrosion attended to, cleaned and polished. The globe sockets are being replaced as I progress through the lower section, working my way to the top.

Lower section with Flipper assemblies installed ;

Flipper Bases

Here's what they looked like when I removed them.. One of the flipper shafts was rusted and I had to tap it out of the assembly with a hammer !

After a heap of work with my favorite new chemical, they came up great. New parts are installed from the rebuild kits from PBR.

More to come shortly..
