I am sure Retro may be able to offer insight into this!

When painting a wall, I was told by a painter that a very thin coat of paint should go over surface and top of tape and allow this to dry.  Then continue on painting and you shouldn't get any bleed.

I really don't know if this helps, but worked on the wall I was painting (barbie pink feature wall).  (no, not for me but helping a mate paint his daughters room!).
