Simple answer is YES. You can see the obvious cut in the apron arch where the plunger was to protrude for the kickback. Williams did a "cost save" and opted for a re-serve from the trough instead when "The Spell is Cast".
This was one of several deletions from this magical game. I think Robert Winter's site goes into detail about all these things and more on SS. Yeah, someone did do a kickback mod but it DOES confuse the software. I can't remeber which site it was on either.
