I'm no tech - but...
To fix the stupid head opto system - you have to glue the black disk onto the shaft. The "d" shaped hole wears and the disk can rotate on the shaft.
I super-glued mine while holding it counter clockwise against the slack. The position of the disk is critical - if it's out by a few degrees it will freeze the head up.
If the head hits the mechanical stop before the opto is clear - it will freeze looking at the rocket ramp. It will be okay after a reset for a while - then same again.
Mine has to work as the kids panic if it's not working....
I will own up to disconnecting the mouth solenoid - the constant chattering drives me nuts! Plus I need a new drive rod for the mouth anyway...
