Unfortunately removing mylar and losing some paint seem to go together. This is based on observations of threads on AP where mylar has been removed.
If you need to remove mylar then you need to be prepared to lose some paint along the way.
If you don't want to lose paint, don't remove the mylar. Mylar can be polished but if it is lifting at the edges most people will want to remove it.
At least you have the skills to fix it up!!
