Also, personally I really like the downtown area (Fremont street) rather than "the strip", but maybe that's just me. Google "Fremont street experience" if you want to get an idea what's there.
I like that section as well and plan to spend a night there in April on the family trip - the old Neon Museum is down that way as well which would be cool to see.
I was there years ago before the "Experience" was created, it was even different to The Strip way back then.
