Your're meant to spray "Krylon triple thick" on the backglass to stop the flakes.
I couldn't find it when I needed it - but Spotlight stocks the non-thick version, it's called Krylon Crystal Clear. (You need to do a lot more coats with the thin one - but it's better than having backglass dandruff!)

spotlight used to carry it. If they don't, then there must be a Krylon dealer somewhere
