Looks like the cab split is below the level of the play field support rails, I wonder if you could just cut a new piece to fit inside the cab under the rails and glue and screw this to the inside - might give more support and rigidity than brackets and when painted may not stand out as much?

Yeah Dave .. I will be looking at that option .. as you say would probably provide better support .. will be getting back into it today
