"The Lure of the Silver Ball" (Garry Flower and Bill Kurtz) list the date of production as June 1979.

I have the original "Replay" magazine, Dated July 1979, with the "KISS suppliment" which was an industry magazine back in the golden years. It has pictures of the actual assembly line, and a prototype KISS in "Mother's Arcade". It was DEFINITELY not released in 1978, and the sales section of the "replay" magazine has ads which state "Game now availabe for immediate delivery".

I have a photo of the band holding the original artwork in 1978 - is was still in its design phase. Not sure why IPDB has the incorrect entry.
