The quote must be an Americanism or something similar.

Most non pinball people I know in that age bracket simply say "there are still pinball machines" ?

If that quote came from a Stern rep, I'd be surprised that they are that stupid. They have more or less insulted the majority of pinball collectors.

I remember the classic walkman radios and the first MP3 players. They were very popular. When Apple came along with their iPod, they targetted Teenagers - something the company would never had even thought of until SOMEONE suggested an idea that was "leftfield". Nowadays - Every teenie has either an iPod or iPhone. If Stern came out with a modern idea, they would do a whole lot better. "Rolling Stones" - Who will be interested in a Rolling Stones pinball ? Rolling Stones Fans ? Wait a sec, they already own the 1981 machine.
