Missing /intermittent digits could also be the connector on the MPU board for the display digit outputs, J6 and/or J7 (the two top righthand side connectors on the MPU), or cracked solder on the J6 or J7 header pins. Had the same problem on my Stellar Wars, digits going out and it ended up being bad solder joints on these MPU connector header pins.
