Re: Scanning Playfields!

There is a printer / scanner place in Newcastle that has a scanner about 1200mm - 1300mm wide and only 200mm front to back that can scan an item that is up to 20mm thick, 1000mm wide and 6metres long. I got my Creature speaker panel scanned a little while ago so I can experiment with the leds light mod. They scanned the file in as a PDF at 26.5meg but can do a much higher res if required at a bit more cost -  scan cost about $10 (attached a 300kb down sized version to show some results). I asked them the question a little while ago if they could do a playfield and since in runs through rollers it has to have all the staples and nut inserts removed (as it can damage the rollers) but it is possible to do.

This printer place does specialise in architecture work and signage hence the range of large format printers and scanners.

I intend to do my Skateball playfield very soon as I bought a spare playfield from Italy and am in the midst of removing mylar and gunk and accessories off the back so to scan and in the future create playfield decals so I can do up my main playfield and then clear coat.

Let me know if I can help at all.

Sound reasonable pricing
I am about to scan a backglass with an old a4 flatbed scanner with the lid removed (I did use it to scan bumper surround art) - I will be scanning it in sections, stitching it & adjusting the colours in photoshop. This may work on a PF. Will let you know how i go.
What were youre plans once it is scanned -stencil,vinyl overlay ?
