Two measures I take to alleviate this problem . . .
(1) Tighten the clips in the lamp base by gently levering them together with a fine blade s/driver
(2) Lever the "wires" on the 555 itself outwards using the same tool.
Friction does the rest - simple, but effective in my experience.
