Good Im not the only one.I used to play pinnies at the Brickies near Windy Hill (84 ish?)and in my memorry there was always a bar stool just sitting there at the machine,feet were on the ground and you sort of leant your arse on the stool and could nudge with your knees as required.

nope i have my feet on the rungs at the base of the stool & use my arms to nudge/shake the machine
