I've taken off and put on around 15 sets over the past 18 months. In order to install them correctly its best to have the length of tape running the full length of the rail.
I always remove the thin tape / small individual pieces and replace the lot with some automotive grade 20mm wide tape I sourced.
This ensures correct installation which keeps the rails neat and secure for my many customers.
