is this 3 pin package for $2.5k worth it?
« on: February 24, 2013, 12:34:59 PM »
For starters I am not the person selling, but the guy that dropped off a pin to me this morning asked if I was interested in 3 pins for $2.5k as he has a mate that is wanting to get rid of some project pins.

One pin is not really a real pin rather a hyperpin (multiball shooter thing) which just needs a door and a couple of small things?

next is a fully working Stern Magic

last is a 1981 Wide Body Gottlieb Volcano
http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?any=volcano&search=Search+Database&searchtype=quick#2742

This is a 3 package deal and not sure if it is worth it just based on possible rarity and they are in Sydney. I also do not know of quality and not interested myself but can get details for any serious buyer.

But many wondering what the value of these are?

Im guessing that the Hyper game is a Williams HYPERBALL

http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?gid=3169

DDStoys has one of these.. hed be best to tell you how easy it is to get parts etc.... strictly project this one and size of project unknown.

Personally, id be looking at the 2 pins alone and having the Hyperball thrown in as a parts machine to sweeten the deal up a bit.
Not sure id pay $2500 though.. $1500 for the 2 pins ( thereabouts) and a bit extra if you decidse to pick up the Hyperball... $300 tops on this though.

Thats where id be going.. always someone willing to pay more though

Hyperball is an interesting machine.  I think it would go well in a large collection and I reckon kids would love it (point and shoot).  From memory they are based on a Williams System 7, so as long as boards, playfield and shooting assembly are complete, coin door should be easy to find.  If its the lockdown bar/shooter assembly that would be tougher to find.
Complete and working in good condition I think any where between $700 to $1200 max.  If mint maybe $1500.00 to the right collector.  Not heaps of them here.
Parts machine value I think $300 depending on the boards.

Volcano - is one a unique Sys80 game. If its an Aussie delievered (or Euro import), check for wear around the bumpers and as long as the playfield & backglass are good they are an easy fix.  I would suspect there would be serious interest on this game from the Sys80 lovers out there.  Fun System 80 to play.  A quality example of a Volcano I think max $1500.00

Stern Magic - no idea on that one, never had one!

Three project machines for $2500 ? Key word is "project".

If these are 7/10 condition, I'd offer $1600 - $1700 max as long as they are complete. "Project" can mean they require parts, boards etc.

totally agree with Nino.
I wouldnt pay anymore than $1600, and even then, not exactly hugely desired titles, plus all the money you would have to put into them......nahhh.

Magic and Volcano are both decent games, Volcano the pick and worth having. Agree that much over mid-teens is not a great deal

Hyperball has some parts available but the lift motor has an orga setup and if this is broken you won't replace it
