Treasure cove master shine kit opinions
« on: July 25, 2013, 10:14:00 AM »
Has anyone tried the Master Shine kit from Treasure Cove?

http://www.treasure-cove.net/PolishingKit.htm

Looks great as does the result but compaired to buying a set of Novus products it's fairly pricey.

Looked at getting the Master Shine kit plus the wax kit and with shipping to Australia it $157US, with our current exchange rate that makes it around $175  ^%^

Going off this review (http://www.treasure-cove.net/KitReview.htm) it seems to be way better but I'm wondering if it is the method of using the buffing pad that brings out the shine? Anyone got any experience/thoughts?

Cheers

It's a pre-existing 3 step car polishing compound that has been watered down and repackaged into smaller bottles.

Does it work? Sure, but so do plenty of other car polishing compounds that you can buy locally.

Your choice.

As you guessed, the buffing pads on the high speed drill are really the crucial component. What takes 3 hours by hand can be done in 15 minutes via electric drill.

I love mine. Saves heaps of time and the buffers bring up a shine I can't match by hand.

I've been using it for a while now, but it is becoming too expensive. If there is a local equivalent, then I'd buy that for sure  ^^^

After the playfield is clean I like to use;

Mothers Seal and Glaze , then finish with Mothers Carnuba wax. I like to polish by hand but any standard drill attachment buffer would work fine.

Hell even Mill Wax is good too. So plenty of alternatives to the Cove

Mill wax has plenty of detractors but its been around since 76' and thus quite a proven product.

maybe some avoid mill max because of the silicone component as silicone is not good for paint repairs  ??????

Meguiars Carnauba Wax - comes in a black tin with a yellow pad applicator.

Works well.

Anyone know where to get the buffers locally?

I got these, haven't arrived yet so can't comment on what they are like but can't argue with the price.

They aren't local but doubt you'd do much better locally.

Will post when I get them and how they perform with Novus.
